Our Training Philosophy
Many behavioral issues are symptoms of confusion, fear, lack of confidence, inconsistent handling, or gaps in a horse's foundation. Rather than simply managing unwanted behaviors, we focus on identifying and addressing the root cause.
For this reason, horses entering training often spend substantial time developing softness, confidence, respect, and understanding through groundwork before progressing to riding work. By preparing the horse before asking for more, we create safer, more reliable results that last.
Our 4 main rules when training are:
1. Keep yourself safe
2. Keep your horse safe
3. Have the horse learn in a relatively short period of time
4. Have the horse retain the lesson

What To Expect

Step 1: Evaluation
We assess your horse's history, temperament, training level, and goals to develop a customized training plan.

Step 2: Foundation & Groundwork
We establish respect, communication, confidence, and responsiveness before progressing to more advanced work.

Step 3: Under Saddle Development
Once the horse demonstrates the necessary foundation and understanding, we begin developing skills under saddle.

Step 4: Owner Education
Weekly owner lessons help transfer the training to you so progress continues after your horse returns home.

Step 5: Continued Success
Our goal is to create a soft, willing, confident horse while giving owners the tools needed to maintain long-term success.
Our Training Method
Our training program is rooted in Natural Horsemanship. But what exactly is Natural Horsemanship? In essence, it involves understanding a horse's behavior, communication, and psychology within its natural herd environment. This insight allows us to offer personalized training that fosters your horse's learning and development. To gain a deeper understanding of how horses think and perceive their surroundings, we highly recommend reading our book"Mirror Mirror On the Stall, Are You The Problem After All" by Janelle Lamke or Clinton Anderson’s Philosophy book. These resources will guide you in interpreting their body language and enhancing communication with them.
