The foundation of the bond developed between horse and rider is based on mutual trust and respect. Once this is established progress is made rather quickly and will last a lifetime. We keep the horse's well-being and safety in mind and with a previous licensed veterinary technician on staff you can be sure they get the best care.
Signs Your Horse Is in Need of Training
Horses communicate through their body language and behavior. Here are some signs that your horse may need training:

Our Training Method
Our training program is based on Natural Horsemanship. What is Natural Horsemanship? Simply put it is an understanding of the horse’s behavior, communication, and psychology, in their natural environment within a herd of other horses. This allows us to provide custom-tailored training communicating in a manner that helps your horse learn and grow. If you would like to get an appreciation of how a horse thinks and interprets the world, we highly recommend reading Clinton Anderson’s Philosophy book. This will help you learn how to go about interpreting their body language and communicating effectively with them.

About the Instructor
Our owner and lead trainer, Janelle, was a Licensed Veterinary Technician from 2009-2023 when she decided to open her own Equine business. Janelle has owned horses for over two decades. Her passion for horses and admiration of natural horsemanship inspired her to create a profession that prioritizes communication between horse and rider. Janelle’s approach to training is something the horse understands and produces a willing partner.

It is important to Janelle that she learns as much as she can to be the best horseman she can be and does continuing education by attending clinics to expand her knowledge. She strives to get fast, lasting results, and teach owners how to be a good leader for their horse creating the foundation for respect and trust and resulting in an incredible bond between horse and rider.

We partnered with Leland Creek Farms, a horse boarding facility in Brown City, MI, and offer a beautiful environment for horses to train in. All have, ample turnout space, large run ins, spacious stalls if desired, new fencing, heated automatic water, both dry lots and grass pastures, 24/7 hay, access to back roads, trails, fields, and a 60x120 indoor riding arena. We work closely with the managers of Leland Creek Farms to make sure your horse is always safe and taken care of.
About Our Facility
Our Lifetime Training Guarantee
At Lasting Impression Horsemanship, we stand behind our training programs. That’s why we offer a lifetime training guarantee that ensures what the horse was taught while in training with us. Our clients receive ongoing support and can continue to have lessons, even after the training is finished by setting up lessons for a discounted price of $50/hr up to 1yr after training. We will happily continue helping you after that at the regular rate of $60/hr. If you start having trouble with your horse on anything taught while in training, contact us ASAP. We will evaluate the horse and provide additional training at no extra charge if lack of training is determined as the cause— you will only be responsible for the cost of boarding $20/day.
Training Fees
Cost for training and boarding ranges from $1100-1450/month

Depending on the number of months committed and risk associated with working with the horse will determine the cost for training. Some training will require a 3 month minimum commitment such as colt starting as well as some behavior corrections. For a more accurate estimate contact us to discuss your issues and goals. All tune ups are $750/month no matter the commitment.

Training can be customized to fit your needs/budget. On average cost is $40-45/hr training but can vary depending on risk associated with working with the horse. Contact us to discuss your goals and create a plan to achieve them in a budget you can afford.

Boarding Only Available to Horses in Training:
Fulltime Training and board includes:

Unlimited access to round hay bales and automatic water any provided grain or supplements fed once per day.

Five hours per week of training (generally about 1 hr/day but may vary).

Any veterinary or farrier care is to be covered by the owner, but the trainer is willing to hold the horse for the process at no additional cost since it is considered part of training.

We monitor the body condition closely and adjust the food ration to compensate for the additional calories needed due to the training.

We will keep in contact with you throughout the process and inform you if or when more food is needed.

2 one hour lessons with the horse and owner per month are included. Although more are recommended and can be purchased for an additional cost at the rate of $50/hr.

We will send pictures and videos with updates on how your horse is progressing and can expect weekly updates.

Ensure the owner has been taught everything the horse knows prior to leaving.

Payment is required prior to services rendered and are due on the 1st of each month.

Due to the high standards we hold ourselves to we only take a limited number of horses at one time so contact us to reserve your spot with a $400 non refundable deposit.

If you are certain you would like your horse trained by us we highly recommend putting a deposit down to hold a training spot and quote, since we book up quickly. Your spot can always be pushed back if needed. With the consistent, impressive, and rapid results we get time and time again our reputation is growing and our rates will increase.
